Nationals Slugger Nearing Return

You could argue that baseball fans in the northern Maryland/southern Pennsylvania area already had enough incentive to head over to a Hagerstown Suns game.  There they could take in Nationals phenom Bryce Harper and the awe and wonder surrounding him.

These already lucky fans will now have another reason to check out their local single-A club, as Ryan Zimmerman is set to begin his rehab assignment with Hagerstown Sunday evening.

Zimmerman is making his way back from an oblique injury that has sidelined the third baseman since April 9.

The 26 year old got off to a hot start this season.  In the 8 games he played before his injury, Zimmerman held a line of .357/.486/.536.

Washington is currently bringing up the rear in the NL East with a record of 25-32.  Their three game winning streak was ended last night as they were shut out by the Diamondbacks.

It is believed Zimmerman will return to the big league club by the middle of June.
