Michael Cuddyer Not on the Trade Block

The Twins have announced that they have no interest in trading right fielder Michael Cuddyer.

Minnesota officially removed their coveted right handed batter from the market this weekend. Teams such as the Braves, Phillies and Giants were known to be interested in Cuddyer as an offensive upgrade.

With Cuddyer in the final year of his contract and the Twins early season struggles, the 32 year old seemed a prime candidate to be dealt at the deadline.

But with Minnesota’s resurgence of late, they have decided to pull Cuddyer from the table.  After finishing the first half strong and starting 3-1 to start the second part of the season, the Twins find themselves 5 games back of the first place Indians in the AL Central.

Cuddyer has been a big part of Minnesota’s turnaround as he’s leading the team in average (.293), home runs (13), OBP (.371), and hits (95).  On the year Cuddyer’s posted an OPS of .834 and has been especially torrid of late, posting a line of .378/.491/.578 in July.

Minnesota is entering a crucial series versus the Indians, as a double header will kick off the 4 game set today.
