Juan Nicasio Resting Comfortably After Surgery

After being hit in the head by a line drive last night, Rockies’ pitcher Juan Nicasio underwent surgery this morning to stabilize his fractured neck.

Nicasio was drilled in the side of his face by a comebacker off the bat of shortstop Ian Desmond during the second inning of yesterday’s contest against the Nationals.  After lying on the ground for several minutes, Nicasio was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field.  The 24 year old was able to move his hands, but this didn’t offer much reassurance to on looking players and fans.

After the procedure to repair a broken C-1 vertebrae, the only news the Rockies have released is that Nicasio is “resting comfortably” and will remain in the hospital while recovering.  Colorado is likely to update the media later today, but for now Nicasio is listed as out indefinitely.
