Dan Uggla extended his hit streak to 28 games today during the Braves 6-5 victory over the Mets.

After collecting two ground outs, a pop out and a fly out, Uggla singled in his final at bat to extend the streak.

In the 8th inning the second baseman came to the plate against right handed reliever Bobby Parnell.  Uggla took ball one before lacing a single to right field.

With his single today, Uggla is only 3 games from tying Rico Carty who holds the Braves record with a 31 game hit streak.

Uggla’s streak began back on July 5th.  The 31 year old entered that game batting a dismal .173 and has been able to increase the average to .220.

After posting an OPS of .955 in July with 8 home runs and 19 RBI’s, Uggla has managed to outdo himself so far this month.  In 6 August contests, Uggla has 4 home runs, 8 RBI’s and 10 hits which is good for a 1.524 OPS.

While Uggla was able to extend his, another streak came to an end today.  Uggla’s teammate Freddie Freeman saw his hit streak end at 20 after going 0-4.
