Jose Reyes Set for Monday Return

Jose Reyes is set to rejoin the Mets Monday after finishing up his short Minor League rehab assignment Saturday night.
In his final game with the Binghamton Mets, Reyes went 2-5 with a pair of singles. Reyes finished 3 for 9 over his 3 games in the Minors this weekend.
Reyes showed early in yesterday’s game that he is feeling no effects of the hamstring injury that caused him to hit the DL earlier this month. In the first inning, Reyes was able to leg out an infield single.
After grounding out sharply to first base in his next two plate appearances, Reyes singled again, this time to left, during his fourth at bat. Reyes ended the night by grounding into a fielder’s choice before exiting the game in the 8th.
Reyes was also finally tested on defense last night, as he hadn’t had a ball hit at him over his first two rehab appearances. While manning short Saturday evening, Reyes successfully fielded three ground balls and caught a pop fly hit to shallow center.
It was an important final step for Reyes, who now says he feels no hesitancy when it comes to his hamstring. Reyes is set to resume his impressive 2011 campaign with the Mets Monday when they take on the Florida Marlins.
On the year, Reyes has hit at clip of .336/.377/.507 with 47 extra base hits, 80 runs scored and 34 stolen bases.
