Arizona Fall League Rosters Announced

As the Minor League season nears its end, Major League Baseball has announced the rosters for the 2011 Arizona Fall League.

Action will start in the AFL beginning in October and will run through the third week of November.  The league is made up of 6 teams (I’ve linked to their announced 2011 rosters); the Surprise Saguaros, Scottsdale Scorpions, Salt River Rafters, Phoenix Desert Dogs, Peoria Javelinas and Mesa Solar Sox.

The AFL is entering its 20th year of existence as a league that’s allowed top prospects to showcase their talents before reaching the Major Leagues.  Last season, several current big league contributors, including Dustin Ackley, Eric Hosmer, Jason Kipnis and Brandon Belt, saw action in the AFL.

This year it looks like it will be more of the same, as the league welcomes another star studded cast.  The AFL is highlighted by players currently ranked 1st and 2nd on many top prospect lists.

Not only will Bryce Harper and Mike Trout play in the Arizona Fall League, but the duo will share an outfield as members of the Scottsdale Scorpions.  Scottsdale took home the title last season, and, with a lineup including the dynamic duo of Harper and Trout, seem to be the early favorites.
