Adrian Beltre Day-to-Day with Mild Hamstring Strain

The Texas Rangers and their fans received good news yesterday when an MRI revealed only a mild strain in the left hamstring of All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre.  Beltre, who hasn’t played since Saturday, is listed as day-to-day and could return to the Rangers lineup as soon as tonight.

Initially the Rangers were worried that Beltre’s strained hamstring would linger as it did last season and require a trip to the disabled list.  Fortunately for Texas yesterday’s MRI revealed no major damage, only a mild strain.  Beltre wasn’t able to suit up for the Rangers last night in their series opener against the New York Yankees, but the third baseman could be ready to go tonight for game two.

Beltre was off to solid start before injuring his left hamstring.  Over his first 14 games of the season, Beltre maintained a line of .304/.344/.482 with six extra base hits, seven RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Even without Beltre in their lineup for the last few games, the Rangers continue to lead the majors in runs scored (98).  Many believe Texas, who’s tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the most wins in the majors (13), sports the best lineup and expect the club to boast one of the game’s top offenses throughout the season.
