Brandon Inge has been placed on the Oakland A’s 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin.  Inge’s transaction has been backdated to May 13, and the third baseman is eligible to return for the A’s on May 28.  To replace Inge on their roster, Oakland recalled Adam Rosales.

Inge went from being released by the Detroit Tigers at the end of April to catching fire with the A’s.  Over his first 11 games in Oakland, Inge posted an OPS of .845 and tallied four home runs, two doubles and 17 RBIs.

Inge hadn’t appeared in the A’s lineup since Saturday, when he went 0-3 against the Tigers.  Prior to that contest, Inge had hit a pair of homers and drove in eight RBIs over the first two games of the series versus his previous team.

Inge is hoping to return from the DL right around the time he is eligible, May 28.  Currently injured regulars Yoenis Cespedes and Coco Crisp should also be back by this time, and the A’s have said they are bringing up Manny Ramirez on the 30th.

Rosales was up with the A’s earlier this season but only for two games.  The 28-year-old has a career line of .227/.297/.339 over his 576 at-bats at the major league level.  During his time in the minors, Rosales has managed an OPS of .836.
