Orlando Hudson has told reporters that he is going to sign with the Chicago White Sox.  Hudson, who was released by the San Diego Padres last week, has agreed to terms with the White Sox but has yet to actually sign his new contract.  Hudson is expected to play a reserve role for the White Sox while primarily being used at third and second base.

Hudson was released by the Padres after only mustering a line of .211/.260/.317 over his 123 at-bats this season.  The Padres made the decision to cut Hudson despite his $5.5 million 2012 salary and $2 million buyout for 2013.

Hudson said that he fielded several offers, some for starting roles, before reaching an agreement with the White Sox.  Hudson is expected to be used at the hot corner as well as to spell Gordon Beckham at second base.

Over his 11 seasons in the majors, Hudson has maintained an OPS of .757.  Hudson last posted an OPS north of .700 during the 2010 season and his last productive year in the bigs came in 2009 when the O-Dog was named to his second All-Star game and won a Gold Glove as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
