MLB Trade Rumors: Hanley Ramirez

facebooktwitterreddit

The Hanley Ramirez rumors were coming in fast and furious yesterday.  Let’s get you caught up.  Here’s a

rundown of the Ramirez news and notes:

  • Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports many teams are wary of Ramirez’s skill in the field now and his inflated contract.  He says, the Marlins are going to have to do some slick talking to pull of a deal for the young third baseman/shortstop.  Heyman did go on to say seven teams may be interested including the A’s.
  • Bob Nightengale of USA Today says Ramirez must go.  The Marlins have identified Ramirez as part of their problem and should unload him soon, says Nightengale.  He also says the A’s are interested in Ramirez as well as four other teams.
  • Joe Stiglich of the Marin Independent Journal reports the A’s have entered into talks with the Marlins in regard to Hanley Ramirez.  He says the sides are not yet close to a deal, but the A’s are serious about upgrading at shortstop.  Stiglich figures that for a deal to be made the Marlins will have to eat a portion of Ramirez’s contract.
  • Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports say the Marlins have officially conceded their play-off chances this year and are ready to unload just about everyone.  He reports that the Marlins tried to trade Ramirez to the Red Sox last week, but the deal didn’t go through.  According to Rosenthal, the Dodgers, A’s, and others may be interested.
