Friday was pitchers and catchers reporting day at Yankees spring training in Florida.

First chance for the Yanks to get a look at Masahiro Tanaka, their new $155 million #3 starter.

Tanaka’s not an ace, he’s just paid like one.

Here’s a shot of the ace, CC Sabathia, now with less CC Sabathia.

He’s so skinny he’s gonna have to drop a C. From now on he’ll just be C Sabathia.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of these spring training images. It’s cold where I am. Very cold and dark and snowy and sad.

Gadzooks! C.C. looks almost gaunt! This really concerns me. I was one who subscribed to the weight loss being responsible for the loss of mph on his fastball and fading in September, and now he looks even slimmer. I hope what I am seeing is the result of buildup in a bunch of muscle and not just loss of fat.

I think he prepared differently this off season to be ready for August and September. Of course, people will doubt the weight loss if CC struggles early.
