Call to the Pen – FanSided’s lead MLB destination where we cover all 30 teams and the game as a whole – is looking to add a number of writers to our team. With Spring Training fully underway across Florida and Arizona, this could be an ideal time to jump in and join us!

We’re looking to fill a handful of positions on site at this time.

Division Correspondent

Our Division Correspondents serve as our go-to voice for regular weekly coverage from each of MLB’s six divisions. Our lone opening at the moment is for the NL West.

This role requires a comfortable working knowledge of all five teams within the division and the ability to touch on news from each organization. These contributions will be a mixed variety of posts looking at the division as a whole and more specific analytical posts touching on just one team/player at a time. Division Correspondents will contribute at least two posts per week, typically on a regular schedule (right now we’re looking at Wednesdays and Saturdays, but there is room for negotiation).

Staff Writers

We’re also looking to add multiple Staff Writers into the mix. This position typically involves a minimum of two posts per week, but there is the freedom to contribute more if one were so motivated. Our Staff Writers are often permitted to write about just about any aspect of the game they’re comfortable with, though these contributions tend to be more opinionated analysis than directly news coverage. This position will ideally work on a schedule (allowing for consistency in when your columns hit the site) and we’re willing to work with qualified writers around your preference. Weekend availability is a plus.

Our Staff Writer roles is essentially an entry-level position. Prior experience writing in an online platform is not required, though it’s always beneficial. Exposure and experience are the two biggest benefits to this role. Your work will be showcased through the network’s content partnership with Sports Illustrated and as FanSided continues to grow, so too do the number of eyes who could be reading what you write.
