Imagine if Peyton Manning had been in the booth when Eli Manning led the Giants to their improbable Super Bowl victory against the Patriots.

It might have sounded a little bit like this.

That was the final out of Miami Hurricanes pitcher Javi Salas’ perfect game against Villanova, as called by Javi’s brother Jorge Salas over WVUM radio.

Jorge is understandably excited, but to his credit, he doesn’t overdo it. To me, he nails the correct amount of excitement right on the nose.

He finds that exact right sweet spot between “I’m trying to maintain some professionalism because maybe I want to go on and do this as a career and I don’t want to make a fool of myself” and “OH MY GOD MY BROTHER JUST PITCHED A PERFECT GAME!!!!”

You could have almost forgiven Jorge if he had gone totally crazy right there and started dropping f-bombs all over the place and “Salas brothers, b—-es!” and stuff like that.

But he reins himself in. He lets the moment happen. He shows the emotion without letting the emotion overwhelm him.

Solid job, Jorge.
