Ken Griffey Jr. apologizes for awkward interview with Linda Cohn

Ken Griffey Jr. went viral in the wrong way Wednesday. Griffey made an appearance on SportsCenter with Linda Cohn and, well, something appeared to be wrong with the former Reds and Mariners slugger.

Speculation ran rampant about why Griffey was in such a bad mood so early in the morning.

Low blood sugar?

Up too late the night before?

Really needed a cup of coffee?

Griffey must have seen the jokes/accusations and realized how he came off. So he apologized to Linda Cohn. Via Instagram message.

“I want to apologize to Linda for the way things went today. I was in the middle of a cough attack and felt a little ill and didn’t want to walk off the set. Linda has always been professional to me and my family .  I’m sorry, Junior,” Griffey posted.

I didn’t realize a cough attack could make a person turn into a surly jagweed. I thought you just took a sip of water and soldiered through.

Get some sleep Ken. You’re in tough shape.
