Video: Barry Bonds arrives at Giants camp

There was a time when everything Barry Bonds did was covered by the media like he was a member of the royal family. Like he was Kate Middleton out shopping for greens, or something.

Times have changed for Barry Bonds. The former Giants slugger arrived at Giants camp Monday morning to begin a stint as an instructor and instead of a whole media mob there was like one guy taking video with his phone.

Barry Bonds used to make ten thousand flashbulbs go off every time he flicked his bat. Now there’s one dude with a phone.

Now the legendary Bonds is just another former ballplayer hanging around the park, getting bro hugs and handshakes.

But at least he hasn’t gotten fat. In fact, he’s gone the other direction. He looks…diminished.

That’s the polite word for it. Barry Bonds looks diminished.

It wasn’t quite one guy taking a video on this phone. Ahmed is media, and there were quite a few fans lined up outside the stadium early this morning waiting on his arrival. The press conference was a media only event though and most fans didn’t have access to the parking lot.

Media coverage is moot; who cares? “Just another former ballplayer?” “Just?” Barry is not in camp to get “bro hugs and handshakes.” Sounds like rebuttal time…
