Video: Mike Pelfrey got pranked hard by Ron Gardenhire and teammates

As baseball pranks go, this one is pretty amusing. Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire and several Twins players conspire to fool the crap out of pitcher Mike Pelfrey.

In the video, we see Gardenhire inviting Wichita State alum Pelfrey into his office and telling him he’s got the Wichita State Shockers basketball team on the line, waiting for him to give them an inspirational speech ahead of their NCAA tournament game this weekend.

The basketball team though is really a bunch of obnoxious Twins players including Glen Perkins.

The clueless Pelfrey attempts to pump up the fake team, but fails miserably.

Grading the prank?

I’m giving it a B+ for creativity. Not the cleverest prank I’ve seen but at least there was some effort put into it.

Execution, I’ll have to give it a solid B+. Gardenhire performs his role well. He sells it pretty effectively and even pushes Pelfrey, making the joke funnier.

Overall, I’m going with the B+ grade. Good solid prank. Not genius. But better than most baseball pranks.

Any baseball prank that doesn’t involve shaving cream pies is a good prank.
