Derek Jeter isn’t called “The Captain” for nothing.

You thought that nickname just referred to his leadership on the Yankees, but no. Derek Jeter isn’t just a great leader as a baseball player, he’s a great leader period.

In fact, Fortune magazine thinks Jeter is one of the greatest leaders on the entire planet earth.

In a ranking of the world’s foremost leaders, Fortune placed Jeter 11th. Ahead of Michael Bloomberg. Ahead of various corporate CEOs. Ahead of many well-known political figures and activists.

Jeter beat out Angelina Jolie, who finished 21st.

He beat out Gregg Popovich and Mike Krzyzewski, who finished tied for 20th along with Dawn Staley.

Fortune does concede that, though Jeter is a great leader, he is not one of the world’s top 10 greatest leaders.

He is not as great a leader as the Pope, who finished first. Or other top 10 finishers like Bono (!), the Dalai Lama, Angela Merkel, Bill Clinton and Warren Buffett.

I mean yes, Jeter is a great leader, but only an idiot would think he’s a greater leader than the Pope or Bono.

And just think everyone, we have a whole baseball season full of this stuff ahead of us. Every day until Jeter finally retires.

Joy.
