Vin Scully calls Friday night’s earthquake

A 5.3 earthquake rattled the Los Angeles area Friday night, right in the middle of a Dodgers game.

Needless to say, Vin Scully has been through a few earthquakes in his time. That explains why he was so completely unfazed by feeling the stadium gently shaking.

New rule: from now on, all natural phenomena should come with Vin Scully play-by-play.

Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Volcanic eruptions. Massive glaciers cleaving off from Antarctica and floating out to sea.

Scully’s voice makes everything seem a tiny bit more majestic. Yet at the same time it is strangely calming.

It’s like having God explain something scary to you.
