The Midwest on Thursday suffered a rash of rain delays and postponements. Out West, the problem wasn’t rain, it was bees.

An entire swarm of bees descended on centerfield in Phoenix, delaying the start of the Diamondbacks-Giants game.

Save your Nicolas Cage jokes, we’ve heard them all before.

The bee delay thankfully did not last very long and the game was able to start.

Brandon Belt was certainly happy to see action get underway. The red-hot Giants hitter got the scoring going in the first by belting a solo homer. That’s Belt’s third homer of the season.

Yeah, Belt is a good name for a baseball player.

Hopefully the bees won’t come back and wipe that one out before it becomes an official game. Would stink to see Belt’s third homer get taken off the books due to a bee infestation.
