What are their biggest needs?

1. Starting Pitching: This may be their biggest problem. Their starting rotation is basically a bunch of No. 3 and 4 starters. Their supposed ace right now is Chris Tillman, who’s sporting a 6-4 record with a 4.45 ERA along with sixty strikeouts. He experienced a rough May after a spectacular start in April, but is settling down in April. The only way they are reaching the postseason is with some upgrades to their pitching.

2. Bullpen/Closer: There is one easy solution to the bullpen: get a real closer. The Orioles shipped off their former-closer Jim Johnson to the Oakland Athletics, who was quickly booted out of the closer role there after some serious struggles at the beginning of the season.

3. Catcher: The Orioles have no offense at their catching position. Matt Wieters fell early in the season due to an elbow injury and he ended up undergoing Tommy John surgery. The combination of Nick Hundley and Caleb Joseph has not exactly worked out. The two have combined to hit .191 with three home runs and 13 runs batted in, along with 35 strikeouts in 126 at-bats. It seems that Dan Duquette (EVP of Baseball Ops.) is not actively searching for catchers, according to Rich Dubroff of CSNBaltimore.com, but that could quickly change.
