With still around 20 games to play a number of players have been or are rumored to be shutdown until 2015 due to recent injuries or to rest a tired arm.

It’s already been confirmed that Texas Rangers’ ace Yu Darvish has been officially shut down for the remainder of the 2014 season. Rumor has it that this may have been the catalyst for manager Ron Washington‘s abrupt departure from the club.

Matt Harvey of the York Mets got shutdown last week. Of course Harvey was already shutdown for the season recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last October but he was adamant about wanting to play in the 2014 season.

The Mets were contemplating letting Harvey pitch in the Arizona Fall League that begins in October, however their minds have changed and Harvey will not pitch again until spring training. Needless to say he was not happy about the situation.

Lately though there has been news that quite a few other players will be shutdown for the rest of 2014. They are all on teams that are out of contention but it at the same time it seems to be happening more frequently than in recent years. While no final decisions have been made, here are four players who we may not see again until 2015.
