Possible new legal reason for Washington’s sudden resignation as Rangers manager revealed

According to a report by The Scoop Sports’ CEO Jamie Kelly, Ron Washington‘s sudden resignation as manager of the Texas Rangers was due to a bit more than a “off the field personal matter.”

If Kelly’s information is indeed correct it seems that Washington’s reasoning may  have ended up having some on the field implications that could affect the team. Kelly has crosschecked the information she was given and “feels confident” reporting this new development.

Adam J. Morris of SB Nation writes of Kelly’s credibility and the likely hood of the information being true,

"“Kelly is a credible source, and this is consistent with the type of things that have been floating around out there the past few days. If this news is correct, it would certainly go a long way towards explaining why the people who know what is going on have reacted the way they have.”"

There have been multiple other reports of Washington’s reasons for leaving. One was that his sudden departure was due to an ongoing and escalating feud between Washington and Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels.

Then there was of course everyone’s first assumption that he had had a relapse on cocaine or some other substance. It is no secret that Washington almost resigned in 2010 after admitting to having a cocaine addiction. His resignation at the time was not accepted by former team President Nolan Ryan and GM Daniels.

Daniels vehemently denied the idea that Washington’s resignation was drug related. So what could be worse than a drug addiction that would cause Daniels to, this time, accept Washington’s resignation? Especially since he said that the Rangers’ plan was to stick with Washington as manager for the 2015 season.

Dale Hansen of WFAA TV, a Dallas-Fort Worth ABC affiliate reports that sources close to situation maintain it is not a health matter. He also reported that Washington had two lawyers with him on the day of his resignation.

Although the presence of lawyers could mean nothing, when put together with the information obtained by Kelly it certain seems that the two pieces could go together.

According to Kelly,

"“Ron Washington’s sudden departure from the club was due to impending legal issues stemming from an alleged sexual assault of an Asian reporter.”"

It is unclear at this time why the reporter’s race was specified. Washington resigned due to impending legal issues stemming from the alleged assault and apparently Kelly is not the only person to have come across this breaking news.

Dallas radio show host Ben Rogers of 105.3 The Fan’s Ben & Skin Show tweeted that he was also familiar with the information,
