Felix Hernandez had a forgettable day at Minute Maid Park Friday night, but Astros rookie Carlos Correa had a far more memorable game, hitting his second homer of the season in his home debut.

With Hernandez already out of the game and Houston up 8-0 in the second inning, Correa took a 2-0 fastball from Joe Beimel to right-center to extend the Astros’ lead. It was the 20-year-old’s second home run of the week, and his first at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros went on to win the game 10-0, ending a seven-game skid and the 2012 first-overall pick experience his first big-league win. With the Rangers surging, the win gives the Astros a little more breathing room at the top of the AL West standings, keeping their lead at 2.5 games through Friday action.
