The Los Angeles Angels have signed former White Sox catcher Geovany Soto to a one-year, $2.8 million deal, MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez reported Tuesday afternoon.

Soto, 32, spent 2015 in a backup role to Tyler Flowers on the South Side, batting .219 with nine home runs and 21 RBI. This past season, he smacked his 100th career home run.

Last year was Soto’s second stint in Chicago after spending the first eight years of his professional career with the Cubs. In 2008, Soto was named the NL Rookie of the Year after batting .285 with 23 home runs and 86 RBI. That season, he was also named an All-Star and finished 13th in MVP voting.

Since then, however, Soto’s numbers have steadily declined. He has failed to reach the 20-home run plateau since his rookie campaign and has reached 50 RBI just twice.

Soto is no stranger to the AL West, having spent parts of three seasons with the Rangers and Athletics.
