The MLB season is nearly halfway over, which means it’s time to take a look at the top players around the league at every position.  Many of the usual stars are still dominating, but there’s a few new faces making waves around the league.

The 2016 MLB season has been one with its fair share of strange storylines.  From the Philadelphia Phillies surprisingly hot start to the Minnesota Twins intense regression, there’s been no shortage of things to monitor this year.

As expected, the Chicago Cubs have been baseball’s best team, but the San Francisco Giants are close behind in yet another even year.  Meanwhile, the Cleveland Indians are riding the momentum of the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA title to the top of the AL Central, while the Kansas City Royals look ready to strike at any moment.

Many of the league’s top stars like Mike Trout and Jose Altuve are continuing their reign of dominance, while reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper is dealing with a mini-slump.

The league’s youth movement is still garnering lots of attention, too.  Kris Bryant‘s touted power in the minor leagues is coming to fruition while Xander Bogaerts is arguably the league’s best all-around hitter.

Washington Nationals’ second baseman David Murphy is still riding his playoff high from last October, while the team’s catcher, Wilson Ramos, is in the midst of a breakout season.

Each player in this list will be ranked on this season’s production, the potential to continue playing well down the stretch and their contributions to their team’s success.  Sorry, Wil Myers.

Here’s a look at the top player at every position, excluding pitcher, as the All-Star break approaches.
