The Atlanta Braves’ Freddie Freeman on Mother’s Day has been a mixed bag so far. With the All-Star playing like an MVP of late, let’s look at this day in his history.

Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman on Mother’s Day is a fun watch. He’s either hot or cold on the holiday and you never know which one you’ll get. With yet another day dedicated to the moms of the world, it’d be fun to see just how he’s done for his in the past.

The first Mother’s Day Freeman suited up for came on May 8, 2011. It was a National League East showdown against the Philadelphia Phillies. Right-hander Jair Jurrjens took the mound for Atlanta and earned the win, 5-2. Freeman went 3-for-4 on the day, knocking a home run and notching an RBI while scoring two runs himself. Craig Kimbrel stepped in with his 1.72 ERA and took his eighth save of the season. Kimbrel gave up one hit, walking one and striking out two.

Then 22-year-old Freeman took the field again for Mother’s Day on May 13, 2012. Freddie went 2-for-4 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Both hits were doubles, one bringing in an RBI as he scored twice. He walked and struck out otherwise in a 7-4 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The late Tommy Hanson took the win over Lance Lynn.

The Atlanta star played well in his first two mom games. The third time around, 2013, wasn’t so significant. The slugger went 0-for-4 on the day, striking out once in a 5-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Former Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann was hitting .313 at the time, with a .992 OPS. Tim Lincecum took the W over Kris Medlen. What a great year 2013 was otherwise.

May 11, 2014 was the fourth installment of Freddie’s Mother’s Day career. This one was no different than the last other than Aaron Harang taking the win over the Chicago Cubs, 5-2. David Carpenter successfully converted the save opportunity as Freeman went 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Atlanta was 21-15 at the time before finishing nine games back for the Wild Card.

With Atlanta now full-bore into an organization-wide revamp, Mother’s Day on May 10, 2015 was interesting for Atlanta. What with the likes of Alberto Callaspo at third base and all-league clubhouse guy Jonny Gomes a bench bat, it was a scrap against the Washington Nationals. The Nats would take the game 5-4, with Jordan Zimmermann with the winning decision.

Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. Unorthodox lefty Alex Wood took the hill for Atlanta. In 6.2 innings of work, the homegrown fan-favorite gave up three runs on eight hits. He walked one and K’d seven.

Now we’ve come to last season, 2016. Freddie showed up on May 8 looking for a good day. He went home disappointed. He went 0-for-4 with three Ks, two walks being a bright spot. The Arizona Diamondbacks would take the day with a score of 5-3. Their starter, Patrick Corbin, went seven shutout innings. He gave up five hits, walking one and striking out five. Former Atlanta Brave Randall Delgado got the win.

In total, Freddie Freeman on Mother’s Day has gone 7-for-24, good for a .292 average. He’s hit three doubles and a home run. He’s scored six runs and plated two while walking four times and striking out six. Good luck to Freddie Freeman in his next Mother’s Day appearance. It means a lot to him.
