The Seattle Mariners were part of a baseball trade yesterday, one in which they shipped away Catcher/DH/Outdoor Enthusiast John Jaso and received 1B/DH/Lumbering Giant Michael Morse in return. There were other details involved but they’re of no concern to us at this moment. What is important, is that the Seattle Mariners are a baseball team, and on their team, they now have baseball players. Many of these baseball players profile in similar ways and play similar defensive positions in a similar not-good manner. Those players are as follows: The recently discussed Michael Morse, Kendrys Morales, Raul Ibanez, Jason Bay, Justin Smoak, Mike Carp, Casper Wells, and Eric Thames. Talk about logjammin’.

]]> The Baltimore Orioles surprised everyone in baseball by pushing the Yankees to the final weekend of the season and earning a Wild Card berth into the playoffs. So far this Winter, however, the Orioles have sat by while the rest of their division has made moves to get better.

O’s GM Dan Duquette was on MLB Network on Monday and acknowledged that his club could use a middle-of-the-order hitter. Jon Morosi of Fox Sports says that hitter could be Washington’s Michael Morse.

Morse is currently slated to start at first base with the Nationals, but that could change quickly should the club re-sign Adam LaRoche. Morse battled injuries in 2012, but clubbed 31 home runs in 2011. He’s also versatile enough to play left field or first base and despite his size (6’5″ 245) has even played shortstop at the major league level, so athleticism isn’t an issue.

Morse has drawn interest from multiple teams.

The Orioles have downplayed their interest in Josh Hamilton, though if money weren’t an issue, he would be the best fit. They’ve been linked as well to free agent Cody Ross, who is coming off a big year in Boston.

You were probably too distracted by the majesty of ambiguous statements about free agency to notice there are MLB players currently invading Japan.  Taking a break from the Taiwan All-Star Series and being a part of the Evil Empire and all that is bad in the world, Robinson Cano visited a children’s hospital and brightened everyone’s day.

“The first thing I noticed playing here is that the fans love baseball,” said the Nationals’ Michael Morse, instantly insinuating that American fans do not like baseball.

]]> I really don’t know if you have forgotten about this heralded young talent behind the dish, but Wilson Ramos had a strong rookie season with a 3.1 WAR. That’s pretty good for a rookie catcher who has gotten lost amidst names such as Drew Storen, Stephen Strasburg, Danny Espinosa, Bryce Harper, and even Michael Morse. However, Ramos has already proven that he is a more than capable starting catcher in the Majors. If you’re a Nats fan, then you’ll at least feel happy knowing that you don’t have to watch Ivan Rodriguez trot out there every day.

No.  It is not.  That introductory sentence was a test, and if you or anyone around you spoke, nodded, or sneezed agreeably, they should be taken care of in a fairly serious and definitive manner.  Ever since Bud Selig decided that home field advantage in the World Series was important enough to be decided by a single game in the middle of the season, the ASG has become far more focused on it’s post season influence than players and fans enjoying themselves.

This shit is important.

And I think I know a LITTLE bit about the discussion of important things.
