New York Yankees: 3 Reasons They’ll Win 2017 World Series
The New York Yankees have played well up to this point, but what are three reasons why they’ll win the 2017 World Series?
It’s been a while since the New York Yankees last won a World Series, 2009 to be exact, and they may finally have the team to win another in 2017. This has, historically, been an organization that played on baseball’s biggest stage every October, but they haven’t appeared in a World Series in just about 8 years.
That being said, I do believe that this New York baseball team has an opportunity to break that streak this season.
According to MLB’s official website, the Yankees currently hold the league’s record for most World Series Championships with 27. While that statistic may blow your mind, the fact that the St. Louis Cardinals who are in second place, only have 11 championships, should make your respect for New York skyrocket.

What else would you expect from an organization that has housed some of the greatest players in baseball history like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle? Needless to say, the Yankees have won a plethora of World Series titles because of their ability to put together a great roster and hire a solid coach to take them to the promised land.
While I don’t believe there are any Babe Ruth’s or Joe DiMaggio’s on this current Yankees’ team, I do believe they possess the pieces to make a run come October. With that being said, take a look at three reasons why the Yankees will win the 2017 World Series.
3. They’ve Competed Well Against Other American League Teams
If the Yankees wants to ensure themselves a spot in the 2017 World Series, then there’s only one way they can do that – beat every other competitor in the American League, which is actually something they have done well so far this season. According to ESPN, New York has gone 14-12 against the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals this year; all teams that are currently projected to be in the postseason.
Not to mention, they are currently battling for the AL East crown as well, since the Red Sox are only 3 games above the Yankees heading into August 7th.
The only team that New York hasn’t played well against this season is the Astros. Heck, who can blame them? No one else has played well against Houston this season either, as the Astros are currently sitting at 71-40, which gives them a 15 game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.
That being said, the Astros are a team full of young and athletic baseball players, who haven’t have an opportunity to play many meaningful games in October. This could definitely be a factor if this two teams meet up later this season, which means the series could easily swing in the Yankees’ favor.
If Houston starts to slip come October, don’t be surprised when New York continues their American League success and face-off against one of the best teams from the National League in the 2017 World Series.
2. Ability To Drive In Runners
If you’re a Major League Baseball fan, then you would love the way this Yankees’ line-up is put together. They have a mix of young superstars and veterans that are absolutely dominating American League pitching. Not to mention, this team is among the best in all of the MLB in driving runners in.
According to MLB Stats, the Yankees are currently fourth in MLB with runs-batted-in and second in the American League with total 544 RBIs. The only other teams that have more runs-batted-in than New York are the Houston Astros, Washington Nationals and the Colorado Rockies.
Needless to say, the Yankees are among the best line-ups in all of baseball heading into the stretch tun of the 2017 season.
If New York wants a chance at winning another World Series title, then they must keep this up into late September and through October. Yes, pitching is important, but you can’t win postseason baseball games unless you can hit in the clutch. If you’re a Yankees fan, then you should be very excited that this team is 11th in all of baseball in runs-batted-in with two-outs and runners on base, according to MLB Stats.
Again, New York has every hitting piece imaginable to win another ring in 2017, but that’s only if their pitching staff can ultimately shut down the other great offensive teams in the American and National Leagues.
1. Combination of the Starting Pitching and Bullpen
In case you haven’t been paying attention, the Yankees have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball. If you’re not a Yankees fan reading this right now and you’re made because you don’t think they’re that good, just hold on and I’ll prove you wrong.

Needless to say, this staff is far good enough to bring another title to New York.
Just take a look at where the Yankees rank among the other teams in Major League Baseball, according to MLB Stats:
- 3.78 ERA (5th in MLB)
- 873 Hits Allowed (4th in MLB)
- 458 Runs Allowed (5th in MLB)
- 1,047 Strike-Outs (5th in MLB)
- 59 Total Wins (tied for 7th in MLB)
This Yankees’ pitching staff, as a whole, is going to be the biggest reason why they could win another World Series this season. These guys are literally in the top five in almost every major pitching category there is. Not to mention, “total wins” is a stat than can be extremely deceiving, especially if the bullpen can’t hold onto a lead.

Needless to say, players like Aroldis Chapman, C.C. Sabathia, Luis Severino and Masahrio Tanaka are more than good enough to lead this organization to another championship. However, that will only be if these three ways we mentioned they could, all come together in October.
