In this version of the 2020 MLB season simulation, the champs come back!

Michael Wacha, 4-7, held Washington to one run in seven innings as the Mets took a 5-1 decision Friday. The Nats came back Saturday behind Stephen Strasburg’s eight shutout innings to win 4-0. Strasburg, 5-5, struck out 13 and allowed just four hits. Kurt Suzuki homered and drove in two runs.

Washington took the Sunday game 6-5 in 11 innings on Starlin Castro’s two-out base hit off Brad Brach scoring Juan Soto, who had doubled. Castro’s hit made a winner of Wander Suero, 1-0, who had shut down a Mets rally in the top of the 11th.

The AL’s Mariners rode Taijuan Walker’s seven two-hit innings to a 4-1 victory Friday night. Walker, 2-4, allowed a Harold Ramirez home run, but struck out six, walked just two and surrendered just one other hit, that a single by Miguel Rojas. Kyle Seager homered and drove in two runs for the Mariners. Elieser Hernandez, 2-6, took the loss.

Saturday’s game took 10 innings to resolve but also went to the Mariners, 3-2. Evan White’s home run off Ryan Stanek, 4-7, settled it in favor of reliever Kendall Graveman, 2-7.

The Marlins salvaged Sunday’s game, an 8-2 final featuring Garrett Cooper’s three hits, one of them a home run. Jose Urena, 2-4, pitched six innings.
