Bone Bruise Could Sideline Rollins

Jimmy Rollins has been diagnosed with a deep bone bruise.  Team officials are monitoring the injury to see if it will cause Rollins to hit the disabled list.

The shortstop says there’s nothing to be worried about and even was a little miffed when his name and DL were mentioned in the same sentence.

“If I go on the DL, it’s purely because they made a bad decision,” Rollins said. “You can write that.”

Rollins was removed from Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after he fouled a pitch off of his right knee.  The bone bruise was revealed during an MRI Tuesday.

Rollins, who was held out of tonight’s lineup, hopes to be back to take full batting practice Wednesday.  After a hot start, the 32 year old has cooled off to a line of .268/.340/.364.

If Rollins was forced to miss any time, it is believed that the Phillies would recall infielder Pete Orr from Triple-A.
