Holliday Hoping to Return Thursday

The rich get richer.

The Cardinals are on the brink of welcoming left fielder Matt Holliday back from the team’s disabled list.  Holliday has been sidelined since the end of May with a strained left quad.

St. Louis currently has one of the league’s most potent offenses, ranking 4th in runs scored and 2nd in batting average and OBP.

They’ve managed this amidst Albert Pujols‘ career-worst season and with Holliday missing nearly a third of the season due to injury.

Before he hit the DL, Holliday had posted a line of .342/.433/.542 over 44 games this season.  He’s hit 6 home runs and 13 doubles while knocking in 31 RBIs.

The 31 year old made it clear that he is ready to go and hopefully pick up where he left off.

"“I have full confidence I’ll be ready to play Thursday. Hopefully, I can stay healthy (he also has had an appendectomy) the rest of the year. Plenty of games left.”"

Holliday will be back in time for the Cardinals series finale with the Washington Nationals if he is able to return Thursday.
