Yoenis Cespedes Arrives in A’s Camp; Finalizes Deal

Earlier this week it was reported that the Oakland Athletics were expecting Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes in camp by this weekend.  Cespedes stuck with that timeframe, arriving at A’s camp yesterday afternoon.  Now that his visa issues are behind him, Cespedes was able to make the trip stateside and take a physical, making his four-year, $36 million agreement with the A’s official.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle was the one to announce Cespedes’s pending arrival earlier this week.  It only seems fitting that she was the one to let A’s and baseball fans alike know that the slugger had finally made it to spring training.

Before Cespedes could start hitting bombs and showing off his running back-like physical abilities, he had to first complete his physical.  Until this was done, Cespedes’s four-year, $36 million contract with the A’s wasn’t official.

The Cuban phenom and Oakland conducted the physical and officially finalized their agreement yesterday evening.  Now, after months of wait and anticipation, Cespedes will finally be able to take the field and show what he’s got.
