Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com tweeted yesterday that the Cleveland Indians restructured the contract of Fausto Carmona.  According to sources, Carmona, now known as Roberto Hernandez Heredia, agreed to take less money in 2012 and have one of the option years removed from his contract.

The specifics of Carmona’s contract have not been released, but we can take a look at what the right-hander was set to make with his original deal.  Initially, Carmona was to be paid $7 million in 2012 and had options for ’13 and ’14 worth $9 and $12 million.  We can assume that the final option year has been removed and a little has been taken off the top of Carmona’s 2012 salary.
