Despite the allegations of sexual assault, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has yet to bring charges against Pablo Sandoval.  They are still investigating the allegations and hope to have more information by the end of the week.  According to Janie McCauley of Yahoo! Sports, the Sherif’s Office “hopes to complete the bulk of an investigation into sexual assault allegations involving San Francisco Giants slugger Pablo Sandoval by the end of this week, then determine whether to seek charges.”

The allegations arose last Friday when a woman claimed Sandoval has non-consensual sex with her.  She stated she was too intoxicated for it to have been consensual.  The incident occurred in downtown Santa Cruz at a resort where the woman was with a large group.  Sandoval was present at the resort as well.

The Giants third baseman is currently rehabbing an injury to his left hand and started at third for the Class-A San Jose Giants.  Sandoval is currently hitting .316/.375/.537 in 24 games this year.  Last season Sandoval hit .315/.357/.552 with 23 home runs and was named to his first All-Star Game.

There is no word on which direction the Sheriff’s Office’s investigation is leading, but Sandoval and his attorney are cooperating with the investigation.
