Alex Rodriguez to Begin Rehab Assignment

It’s been more than a month since third baseman Alex Rodriguez suited up for the New York Yankees, but the former MVP is getting closer to a return.

According to reports, Rodriguez will see action in the Florida State League on Friday for the High-A affiliate of the Yankees in Tampa.

Rodriguez missed a good chunk of time and only recently even began taking batting practice. Undrer normal, mid-season circumstances, this rehab assignment would probably last four or five games, but with the minor league season coming soon to a close and major league rosters expanding on Saturday, it’s fairly likely that A-Rod is back with the big club this weekend.

For the season, Rodriguez is hitting .276 with 15 home runs and 44 RBI. He is making $30 million this season.
