After 162 games of regular season baseball, there will need to be one more to settle the American League Wild Card. The Cleveland Indians have already clinched their spot as the top Wild Card and will be hosting the Wild Card Game on Wednesday. Both the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays won on Sunday forcing the one game tie-breaker on Monday. The tie-breaker game will be played in Arlington, Texas since the Rangers won the season series against the Rays.

Here is a recap of Sunday for both the Rays and Rangers.

The Rays go out in front in the first 6-0 and you think they have the win in the bag. Well think again. Matt Moore had control issues all day and the bullpen couldn’t get batters out. The Rays take a 7-6 lead into the ninth after Fernando Rodney gives up a couple of runs in the 8th. It was a pressure packed ninth inning buts the Rays sneak by the Blue Jays on the final day of the season, promising themselves at least one more game in 2013.

As soon as the Rays game finished the Rangers get a base hit from Chris Gentry giving them a 2-1 lead over the Angels. The Rangers never trailed again as they tacked on runs in each of the next three innings and winning by the final score of 6-2. This win possibly saves Ron Washington‘s job. The Rangers live to play another day in game number 163 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

It has been announced by Ron Washington that Martin Perez will get the start for the Rangers in this game. Another note coming out of the Rangers club house is that Nelson Cruz will be active for game 163 tomorrow tonight. Joe Maddon, who was ejected in Sundays game, has announced that David Price will get the start for the tie-breaker game. The Rays have had magic in game 163 before, but we will have to wait and see how this one goes Monday night. The winner will go to Cleveland and face the Indians on Wednesday night, with the winner of that game going to Boston for the American League Division Series.
