The Tampa Bay Rays got a new lease on their postseason life thanks to Jose Lobaton‘s walk-off game-winning solo shot and defeated the Boston Red Sox, 5-4. Marc Tompkin of the Tampa Bay Times tweets that as a result of Lobaton’s home run into the tank in right center, the Rays will donate a total of $10,000. $5,000 to a charity of Labaton’s choosing and another $5,000 to the Florida Aquarium which maintains the tank.

The Rays look to send the series to a fifth game and back to Boston.

Today’s pitching matchup is a duplication of a game these two sides played on September 12. Neither pitcher figured in the decision.

Jake Peavy (12-5, 4.17 ERA, 1.147 WHIP for 2013; 4-1, 4.04 ERA, 1.160 WHIP with Boston) gets the call for Game 4. Since becoming a member of the Red Sox, Peavy has held opposing batters to an average of .230. While Peavy does sport a winning record at the The Trop (3-1), he does have an ERA of 4.91 and a WHIP of 1.364. He faced the Rays twice this season. In that September 12 game, Peavy went six innings, allowing four hits and three runs. He also walked five Rays while striking out four.

Jeremy Hellickson toes the slab for the Rays. The Hellickson from the second half of the season in no way resembles that of the Hellickson from the first half. In 56.1 IP he has thrown in the second half, Hellickson has issued 24 BB (3.85 BB/9). For the first half of 2013, he issued 26 BB in 117.2 IP (1.99 BB/9). In the 9/12 game, Hellickson worked 5.1 innings and surrendered three runs on four hits. He whiffed seven Red Sox batters and walked three.
