Frank Thomas doesn’t like being lumped in with the steroid cheats simply on the basis of gut feeling and unfounded suspicion. So when Skip Bayless recently insinuated that Thomas doesn’t belong in the Hall of Fame because he may have done PEDs? Thomas took note.
And Thomas would now like to have a little face-to-face with Mr. Bayless.
“I hate to bring up names,” Thomas tells Jim Rome in a yet-to-air episode of Rome’s Showtime program, “but Skip Bayless even said the other week, ‘How did [Thomas] walk through the door without any suspicion?’ And I would like to have a conversation with him because I walked the walk and talked the talk from Day 1.”
Frank Thomas wants to put a big hurt on Skip Bayless. When will this confrontation be happening and will it be available on PPV?
I have this awesome picture in my head now of Frank Thomas as Michael Douglas in Falling Down, just going crazy on all the insinuators and accusers like Bayless, and Dan Shaughnessy and Murray Chass and the rest of those self-righteous finger-pointers.
Uh, Frank Thomas out the car now.
That would be epic. And Thomas doesn’t even have the biggest grievance. He at least got in the Hall of Fame. Jeff Bagwell, Mike Piazza and Craig Biggio might all be kept out, just on the basis of these old fat writers and their gut feelings.
Thomas is better positioned to speak out against the Hall of Fame c**kblockers because he’s already in. So he can be the spokesman for the aggrieved. He can take on the Baylesses and the Shaughnessys and the Chasses. Hopefully without going Hobo With a Shotgun on their pimply white butts.
Though I would not mind if he did grab a shotgun. Time for some Hauer-like justice up in here.
