For anyone interested in the Australian Baseball League and hardball Down Under, “Strike Zone” hosted by Chris Coleman is one of the best half hours of the week. In the very latest episode, Chris has a fantastic conversation with Hyphen that ends all too soon. If you are among the legions of Ryan Rowland-Smith fans, this ABC interview is a must listen.

ABL Scoreboard: January 17

The Perth Heat came into game two at The Fort needing a win to host the ABLCS. Instead of scratching something out, the club solidly blanked the Canberra Cavalry while Allan de San Miguel and George Barber went yard in a 6-0 clinching victory.

The Adelaide Bite came back from an early Sydney Blue Sox lead to win 5-2 in front of the faithful at Norwood Oval. A dinger from Byron Wiley started a 5 run 6th inning and that was enough to draw the Bite back into a tie for second place.

It took 13 innings to find the finish line, but the Melbourne Aces rewarded those who stayed in the bleachers with an ending for the ages. A two-run tater from Brad Harman kept their playoff hopes alive in a 4-2 walk off victory.

ABL Action: January 18

Now that the Perth Heat have clinched a spot in the playoffs, only two chairs remain and not many more stanzas of music. The Canberra Cavalry need a win tonight at The Fort to keep themselves solidly in the hunt. First pitch at midnight PST or 3:00 a.m. EST.

Second place will be less crowded when either the Adelaide Bite or Sydney Blue Sox win this ballgame. By the end of the evening, one of these clubs will be feeling some momentum and the other will be feeling more pressure. First pitch at 12:30 a.m. PST or 3:30 a.m. EST.

After a marathon ballgame, there is a chance that a club might come to the park a bit flat. The Melbourne Aces were snug in their own beds last night and might just be able to leverage that into a win against the Brisbane Bandits. First pitch at 12:35 a.m. or 3:35 a.m. EST.
