Seahawks First Pitches at Safeco

If you’re a football fan, tomorrow is a big day for you. Even bigger day if you’re a fan of the Seattle Seahawks or Denver Broncos.

As I’m sure you are aware, MLB.com has a YouTube page and I scoured it for some first pitch videos from this past season. Found a couple Seahawks players that performed the honor.

The first one, and you undoubtedly recognize him, is Richard Sherman, cornerback for the Seahawks. For the past couple of weeks, he’s grabbing headlines for various quotes and his reaction after the Seahawks won the NFC Championship. On April 11th, a somewhat more subdued Sherman tossed out the ceremonial first prior to a game between the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers.

There was more to the evening and you catch it over on the Seahawks site.

A confident PA announcer as well. Or a creepy premonition…

On June 7th, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson took to the mound prior to a tilt between the M’s and New York Yankees.

This past December, Wilson was taken in the Rule 5 Draft by the Texas Rangers. If you somehow missed that, I’m not sure how you avoided it. Had to be over 100 articles about that. Maybe over 1,000.

For those thinking career move, at this point, I sincerely doubt it. You can check out his minor league numbers by clicking on his name above.

Wait. Wilson can play second base. The Mariners don’t need one now, but…never mind.

Better first pitch? Wilson’s had movement, but Sherman’s was more on the plate.

And even though there’s no video within this post (but I will give you a link), this season the M’s also had Bill Nye throw out a first pitch.

In case you’re wondering, and I’m sure Broncos fans are, I didn’t see any videos from this past season where Broncos players threw out the first pitch before a game at Coors Field. Googled it. Binged it. Nothing. Sorry. That’s not to say it didn’t happen.

If this is the case where there’s no video, might want to get the Rockies peeps on that.
