True Detective is the current dark, morbid, freaky one-hour cable drama getting all the buzz on Twitter and elsewhere (that void badly needed filling after Breaking Bad left our lives).

The creepy HBO crime drama show’s popularity is so great it has even spawned a hashtag game, #TrueDetectiveSeason2. The object of this game is to pair people you would like to see star as the detectives in a speculative season 2 of the show, preferably with a photograph included of the two people looking vaguely menacing and/or broodingly intense.

Because there is nothing better than a good random pop culture crossover, Josh Kurp of Uproxx found out who Danny McBride thinks Kenny Powers would select for #TrueDetectiveSeason2.

That’s random.

Kurp caught up with McBride on the red carpet at the Texas Film Awards and posed his question. McBride answered:

"Who would you want to see in season two of True Detective?Well, I already know who it’s going to be. I got the inside scoop at HBO. *laughs*Can we get a hint?Nope. *laughs like Satan himself*OK, well, then who do you think Kenny Powers would want?Nell Carter and Sherman Hemsley, that’s who he’d want to see. You’d watch that, right? All CG."

It would have to be all CGI, because Nell Carter and Sherman Hemsley are both dead.

If we’re pairing random deceased sitcom stars for #TrueDetectiveSeason2, how about Bea Arthur and the guy who played Schneider?

See why this is such a fun game?

PS, who else misses Eastbound and Down?
