Everyone loves fireworks. Everyone loves the American flag. Everyone loves baseball.

No one loves when fireworks set off at a baseball game cause the American flag to burst into flames.

That exact thing happened Tuesday night at Turner Field in Atlanta.

I hope Rick Monday doesn’t see that. He will be so ticked.

Seriously Braves. The symbol of our nation? Right next to where you set off the fireworks?

No Braves people, the flag is not protected from fire by some magical patriotic spell. It’s made of cloth. It burns.

Imagine if the Braves’ pyrotechnics people had attacked Fort McHenry instead of the British. The Star-Spangled Banner would have very different lyrics.

“And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag…was on fire, holy crap someone invent a fire extinguisher.”

Then it would be even harder to sing.

Barves indeed.
