Andrew Cashner strikes out Miguel Cabrera to complete one-hitter

Don’t let the hair fool you, Andrew Cashner is no joke.

Cashner was totally filthy Friday against the Tigers, and I’m not referring to his personal appearance. I’m talking about his stuff.

Cashner stifled the Tigers’ hard-hitting line-up, limiting them to one hit over nine. He completed the one-hitter by striking out the one and only Miguel Cabrera.

That is how you put a capper on a one-hitter. You set down Miguel Cabrera on strikes.

And then you go party it up as only a man with a mullet can. In the back of a truck, with girls and beers. Probably.

Cashner now in 21 innings – small sample size yada yada – has a 292 ERA+ and a WHIP of 0.810. So he is getting it done at an ace level.

Whether he can keep it up remains to be seen. But we know he has the talent. And he has a nice flair for the dramatic.

And an interesting look. Which helps with branding.
