While the three-team trade that sent Jake Peavy to the Red Sox and brought OF  prospect Avisail Garcia to the White Sox will still likely pay off for the Sox in 2015, they need outfield help now. Garcia suffered a torn labrum in his non throwing shoulder in April rendering him out for the season. Their back end of their starting rotation could use some help as well and like so many other teams this season the White Sox need a strong closer.

1. Currently in the White Sox outfield are youngsters Adam Eaton, Dayan Viciedo, and Moises Sierra all of whom are 25 and have plenty of time to improve. If they are looking to win now or in the next couple of years they may need an upgrade here. However they also have 30-year old Alejandro De Aza as well as Michael Taylor, who was recently acquired from the Oakland A’s and is waiting in the wings for his chance at the big leagues. Taylor though was up and down for the A’s the past few years and isn’t getting any younger. To win now they need to improve the outfield.

2. When it come so the starting rotation the White Sox are lucky to have the 25-year old southpaw Chris Sale leading the way, regardless of his missing sometime due to injury, he’s one the White Sox need to build around. The rest of the rotation however has been allowing a high number of walks, that inevitably catch up with the Sox, allowing the opposing team to score runs that lead to losses.

3. Recently the White Sox have been, like so many other teams have this season, using the “closer by commitee” method of finishing games. Ronald Bellasario was the closer but he was recently removed from his position by manager Robin Ventura after a string of poor outings. Trading for a strong closer option would greatly affect the possibility of the White Sox moving themselves into playoff position.
