As the Major League Baseball season slowly begins to take shape, many of its expected contenders are taking the league by storm while others have faltered.
The New York Mets and Washington Nationals are in a heated battle atop the National League East and look to be set with their rosters for now, but teams like the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays have yet to hit their strides.
The Seattle Mariners have outperformed expectations and will likely be major players in this year’s trade market as they look to add talent to a lineup featuring Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager.
With faltering teams like the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres stuck in the depths of the league, several top stars may be available very soon.
Top players like Freddie Freeman and Ryan Braun could be up for grabs if their teams continue to struggle, and would provide major boosts to whichever team dealt for them. On the pitching side of things, the resurgent Drew Pomeranz looks to be one of the top trade chips on a struggling Padres team.
