The New York Yankees have made some big changes the last few weeks. For years, the Yankees were consistently in the running for the playoffs. They never rebuilt, they just re-loaded. If they needed to plug a hole here or there, they would get a veteran player to fill that gap, often by spending a ton of money in free agency. There were no youth movements in the Bronx.

This has started to change. Just before the trade deadline, the Yankees sent one of their three relief studs (Aroldis Chapman) to the Chicago Cubs for a bevy of prospects. On Friday, the Yankees and Mark Teixeira held a press conference to announce that Teixeira is retiring after 14 years in the Major Leagues. It was a moving moment as Teixeira broke down while announcing his career would soon come to an end.

The most recent news from Yankees-land is that there will be a press conference regarding Alex Rodriguez on Sunday. At this point, that’s all we know, but we can speculate.
