September represents one of the more fun times on the MLB schedule… it’s the push to the postseason. However, not every ball club is in contention to play beyond the regular season. So what can the non-contenders get excited to watch over the next few weeks?

For the fans of MLB teams that are right in the thick of the postseason race, the beginnings of fall can be one of the more fun times of the year. We’ve seen some great moments in the final few weeks of the regular season as there is so much at stake for the clubs that are looking to play in October.

But, what about the teams that sit at the bottom of the standings? What can they look forward to seeing over the final weeks of the regular season, outside of playing spoiler? Well, there are many things that can keep fans engaged. From the promotion of big time prospects to award races, there are some intriguing storylines dealing with the bottom feeders of baseball. Of course these teams did not want to be in this situation, but some of these things can keep the fans engaged until the final out.

Most of the intriguing factors that can keep the fans tuned in have to deal with how their squad will perform next season, and if the losing teams can see a glimmer of hope from their young players or bona fide stars, that is always welcome news.

So without further ado… here are some of the storylines that losing teams can cling onto as the 2016 MLB season comes to a close.
