News flash! Alex Rodriguez never did retire. He can’t because if he did that would void his contract with the New York Yankees. So, what exactly did happen with Rodriguez? I’m confused. Well, as he said yesterday on Fox-TV……..”Stay Tuned”

Rain delays are never scripted. How can they be, right? In, fact, they’re usually downright boring. And yet, you have to wonder a little bit about this exchange between “The Hit King”, Pete Rose and Alex Rodriguez during the one hour delay prior to the cancellation of the game in Washington between the Dodgers and the Nationals (That game will be made up today at 1:00pm).

Here’s the exchange as reported by Chris De Luca on Twitter:

"Pete Rose says Ortiz could be lacing up shoes 4 last time, then asks A-Rod: “How’s that feel?” A-Rod: “Stay tuned.” Ummm … he’s not done."

He’s not done. Right, and neither is Donald Trump. Alex Rodriguez throws this little teaser out there, gives the camera a smug little smile after he says it, and we’re all supposed to bite at the story. Guess what? Here I am at 4:00 in the morning writing this piece so it’s ready for the morning edition, when all along I thought the A-Rod saga was over when he disappeared into the Yankee dugout that Friday night in the middle of a very appropriate thunderstorm.

In a word, it’s just plain disappointing. But then again, Alex Rodriguez has made a career built on disappointment. And that needs no further explanation.

But this move by Rodriguez, and make no mistake about it – it is definitely a “move” is disappointing for another reason. And it has to do with the appearance that he had come to terms and was at peace with himself in the days prior to his release by the Yankees.

He owned up to having made “some mistakes” and he said all he really wanted at this point in his life was to spend more time with his daughters………who by the way were where while he was collecting a check he doesn’t need from FOX.

One and one never makes two with Alex Rodriguez and it always seems, even if he doesn’t mean to, that he’s getting over on us. And that’s too bad because back in August, it was largely one of those feel good stories of the season. Now, once again we have the same old questions about the man. Or, at least some of us do.

Alex Rodriguez is 42 years old, his body has forsaken him, and he can’t hit a lick any more. What else do we need to know.? But I guess the real question is what does A-Rod still need to know?
