St. Louis Cardinals: Stephen Piscotty is Into Craft Beer
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty usually headlines a batting order. Now, he and his brother headline a new beer accessory product.
Stephen Piscotty is a man of many talents, and now he is entering the craft beer market with his brother, Nick. The Piscotty brothers intend to engineer an accessory that will keep your beer at the right temperature and therefor, better tasting.
“The Beer Bit” is a chilled pillar of metal that connects to the bottom of a pint glass using magnetic coasters. The chilled metal and the coaster work together in order to maintain an ideal temperature for your beer without compromising the beer itself.
The Kickstarter campaign states that different beers are best enjoyed at different temperatures. Because of the differences in beer, Nick and Stephen Piscotty have developed multiple types of beer bits. They also hope to begin shipping in February of 2017 and if interested, you can find out more here.
Many know Stephen Piscotty for his success on the field. Through two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Piscotty has slashed .282/.348/.467 and has cemented himself as a strong defensive right-fielder.
But the former first round draft pick has talents that exceed the game of baseball. Many do not know that he holds a degree in atmosphere and energy engineering from Stanford.
The Kansas City Royals drafted Stephen’s brother Nick in the 32nd round out of high school. However, Nick turned down the Royals’ offer in favor of Duke University. He went on to graduate with a degree in Economics with a concentration in finance.
The duo of Nick and Stephen Piscotty are joined by a third partner, Walter Webb. Webb is responsible for product development.
Production for “The Beer Bit” should begin sometime next month if funded. The available “pledges” on Kickstarter start as low as $1 and offer product packages if an individual pledges specific amounts. At the time of this writing they have received $15,931 of their $20,000 goal.

As Stephen Piscotty continues to find success on the field, he now ventures into a market closely related to baseball: beer. Maybe one day, we’ll see “The Beer Bit” in Busch Stadium with Piscotty at the plate.
