The Milwaukee Brewers released journeyman Mike Burns today. The 31 right handed pitcher finally pitched over 50 innings in the majors last year, for the first time in his career. He started in 8 games with the Brewers last year and went 3-5 with a 5.75 ERA while giving up 10 home runs
Burns, who struggled with an injury to his throwing arm late last year, has never really had a full MLB season. As in the past 5 years he has spent stints in the minor leagues with the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago Cubs. In 2005, Burns appeared in 27 games as a reliever with the Houston Astros, and posted a 4.94 ERA.
